Crooked Rose

Kansas City has experienced a lot of strange and unnerving events in 2024, and this is the place to discuss them.

Has anyone thought about the "Crooked Rose Woods?" What does it mean? Is it related to "The Redcurves?"

There is a poem about "Crooked Rose":

[The force that through the green fuse drives the flower]
Dylan Thomas

The force that through the green fuse drives the flower
Drives my green age; that blasts the roots of trees
Is my destroyer.
And I am dumb to tell the crooked rose
My youth is bent by the same wintry fever.

The force that drives the water through the rocks
Drives my red blood; that dries the mouthing streams
Turns mine to wax.
And I am dumb to mouth unto my veins
How at the mountain spring the same mouth sucks.

The hand that whirls the water in the pool
Stirs the quicksand; that ropes the blowing wind
Hauls my shroud sail.
And I am dumb to tell the hanging man
How of my clay is made the hangman’s lime.

The lips of time leech to the fountain head;
Love drips and gathers, but the fallen blood
Shall calm her sores.
And I am dumb to tell a weather’s wind
How time has ticked a heaven round the stars.

And I am dumb to tell the lover’s tomb
How at my sheet goes the same crooked worm.

Thoughts??

This was also from an article on the event:

"There are three levels for visitors to experience: one for people who are just visiting, one for people who want a little bit more of a scare, and one for the people who signed up and know the whole story. The name "Crooked Rose Woods" also ties into the story they are telling."

Splendid, indeed,
Take a, deep breath,
I see, I read,
Technique, fake depth.

Say what, you mean,
It's brevity,
That locks, you in,
until the end where you can really fuck with someone

Going to mess around with moving those words around. That poem feels like a word scramble. Some of the phrases match better with others and that feels almost intentional. :monacle:

i think it’s interesting that dumbness is constantly mentioned in the namesake poem. everything so far has seemed to point to the necessity to speak about what’s been seen. i’m not sure what the connection is there but it seems relevant
