Testing the waters here, but I have a theory that the haunted house that the Redcurves had was their source of income that they used to feed their family, aka their main source of income. Then when that was bought out or forgotten about, maybe they had to resort to other ways to put food on the table. "Maim you and bleed you for fun"...possible cannibalism here? Yeah piggy backing off this. They have their haunt. Haunt falls through. They can’t support their family/children or livelihood. Maybe they can for a bit but eventually they hit that edge. Sadness turns to anger. Anger turns to desperation. Desperation turns to hate.

They have to keep the family alive and fed somehow. Maybe they’re sacrificing kids just to keep themselves going or maybe they’re eating people they find being into the woods. The song that, “they’d bleed you for fun”, maybe the song is like a nursery rhyme or like a song of legend. Like the one two coming for you song from nightmare on elm street. People sing this song and the redcurves become local legends. With DLB and others involvement now they’ve got that chance to bring their family back to Kansas City and properly take care of them while also in the redcurve’s own words getting revenge “we’re going to fuck up Kansas City”.

I also posted elsewhere. I don't think it's a stretch, that phone call (at least as relayed) seemed to point that way pretty clearly. I suppose it could mean doing other things like killing people and dumping them in the lake and using their stuff to pay for food.

But those photos of the kid...that looks like real, unfortunate trauma.

Again, Redcurves, if you're reading these I ain't judging you. I'm real sorry if that happened to your folk. I do hope you're in a better space now with any kids you might still have in your group. If not, I bet we could do some sort of quick round of fundraising to help at least in the short term until you get the haunt back up and running.

Or, maybe, that song is something kids would chant about the Redcurves when they were run out of town and became a lore. They might just be a misunderstood family who got turned into the boogeyman by the people who took away their business and ran them out of town, which would explain their anger. They're just people trying to protect their family.

Oh that’s very true didn’t even think about the fact it may just all be smoke and mirrors. But maybe now those lies/twisted truths have turned them into the monsters the song had claimed them to be. You can protect your family and still be a monster at the same time.

Milkman, dairy man, camera man whatever his name shall be named, is more powerful than made out to be. I've always felt like he had some higher connection in all of this. Hasn't he been the only one to be at every experience? To stay close to make sure things go as they should? Is he a lyebird?

It was even sang by kids in the reel, right? I like this theory because I want to like the Redcurves.

Yes, it's sang by children in the exact "sing-songy" way that something like that would be if it were a weird folktale song.

Just out of curiosity, I looked up Dymuntz’s name trying to get some clues out of it. We know that opulens is lowercase because he mentioned to Matt that true opulence is quiet or at least not loud, so I tried to derive some information off of the Internet to see what it might mean for Dymuntz.

Muntz:
- an alloy of copper and zinc that contains 60 percent of copper, can be rolled hot, and is used especially for sheathing and bolts.
- Swiss German and German (rarely Munz): from a pet form of an ancient Germanic personal name Muno or Mundo formed with mun 'thought' and munt 'protection guardianship' respectively.

I would also like to note how the two are very different. Dymuntz has been eclectic and confident and somewhat loud, meanwhile, opulens has been kind of working in the shadows and very hush about himself. So we already knew that they were different in personality, but I just wanted to add that information on there and see if it helped.

Another thing because I keep thinking of things.

Dan would not give us information when me and Matt were quizzing him in the car. I want to use this as an opportunity to ask if any of the other participants managed to get info out of him, but also discuss this.

The only things he mentioned was that we needed to ask the right questions, aka the questions we shouldn’t be asking. opulens mentioned that Dan had asked the right questions. Dan has been exiled.

I’m going back to when I was first exiled. What did I do to get me exiled? I posted the phone call without permission and I kept knocking on their door. In exchange I was exiled with my enthusiastic consent and was given an opportunity to not only shut up to everyone else, but I received information earlier than the others that I couldn’t share at the time. But I want to clarify that you all know what I know now. No secrets there.

Is Dan ever going to come out of being exiled? Is he there permanently? Was he able to consent and say that he did it willingly in the pursuit of knowledge and information? Was he ready to be exiled? What did Dan do to get exiled??? He asked the right questions - the questions he shouldn’t be asking. But WHAT did he ask.

Sorry this is like word vomit at this point but my brain keeps going back to it. And also the fact that opulens said to focus on my experience in particular and start linking things together. I feel like there’s a lot of doors there that we haven’t even thought of opening…

still genuinely feel that the whole bucket thing was a test for them to see how well we could be of use to them. They are all about sharing with the universe and ten fold. The witch for so mad about the other buckets because it doesn't help them in what they are aiming to accomplish or any victory. It's almost like we are in training and all these are little tests that soon distinguish where we stand with or against them. Opie is the tough love teacher, kinda almost like good cop, bad cop along side Dymuntz. He wants to see us succeed but he doesn't want to be too much of a softie so he has a little bit of a oomph to him. He draws everybody in if you will. And then Bam here comes dymuntzs. The really extra tough love kind of teacher. Throw her into the mix and see how well we really can handle it. He did say he was going to leave us with our theories for a little bit before he did speak back to us. So maybe that's what's going on. They're sitting back and watching us to see how we react to everything.

Absolutely. The buckets read like a test to see if we understood how to do this “right,” and give them what they want - which is their influence spread out as widely as possible.

I’ve been thinking about the Redcurves a lot today. Apologies if I repeat anything anyone else has already said - my signal out here in the Welsh wilderness is spotty so it’s hard to keep up with all the forum posts.

The Redcurves have, whether it be through intention or circumstance, become outcasts of society. I know some of us here have experience working with people on the fringes (Richard for example has talked about his efforts). It’s not something I talk about often, for a variety of reasons, but as part of a punk network made up of people including social workers and union reps, who work with people who have found themselves in undesirable situations and want to get out of them but don’t necessarily have the tools… I have learned a lot. About communication and misconceptions and respect.

Why is this relevant? Because people who find themselves outside of mainstream society often have one thing in common - pride.

Referring to them as hillbillies, suggesting they’re cannibals… this all feeds into the propaganda we have already seen. That poem from the trailer alone… Of course their hackles are already going to be raised if they’ve seen how we talk about them. Why would they be polite? They see a bunch of people, pontificating about a life they have no experience of and passing judgement… based on what? The way they talk, the way they dress, and a gruesome nursery rhyme… No wonder they are coming out of the gate strong. They demand respect because how would they expect to get it otherwise? They are already fighting a losing battle.

Mainstream society has a habit of branding groups of people as the “other” and that is something to be feared. The LGBTQIA+ community, immigrants… these groups and more are all fair targets to distract us from the bigger picture. Think of the wise women who were branded as witches. These women lived on the fringes of society (sometimes for reasons as dumb as having too much money without a man to spend it) and were consulted for their knowledge of natural healing methods. Everything was great as long as the potions worked. But if they didn’t (cos with the best will in the world, herbs can’t cure cancer or stop a stillbirth), or if some other tragedy struck… the wise women, the outcasts, the exiled, the “other”, are the easy ones to blame without consequence for the status quo. The witch is dealt with and everyone in the town can go about their business with a clear conscience.

We have no evidence that these are bad people. We see blood on their knives and assume it’s human. WHY?! They curse and drink. So do I. Doesn’t make me a bad person or prone to a cheeky bit of cannibalism or child sacrifice. They suck at technology. Talk to us elder millennials and so do a lot of us and we don’t even have the excuse of living in the woods. They are easy targets to blame for the ills of this world and once again, distract from the real evil.

The Redcurves deserve respect as any person does, until we learn more and then we decide as we go where we stand.

For some this would translate as: treat others as you would want to be treated yourself. No matter how they treat you first.

To others: from each according to their ability, to each according to their need.

Or maybe even: Try a Little Tenderness

LexTheWolf and SlightlyChard collectively mentioned that there are doors that are now closed and will not open anymore, essentially meaning trying to get through to these people via DM’s on IG or FB as well as PM on the forum. However, this doesn’t apply to all of us; KC mentioned that they had responded to her DM’s empathizing with the children as well as a few phone calls. There was some hinting that it was specifically those that put their messages in the third bucket (universe) that were getting reached out to.

Are doors shut, or are they only shut for certain people? Will the rest of us have to get creative or are we cast out for now? Food for thought.

I think you were onto something when you mentioned you hadn't heard from opulens. He hasn't posted here in a hot second. Maybe he's busy frolicking in barns with witches, or maybe in trying to force open another door, we slammed his shut. Endlessly curious over here.

Yeah! Also the possibility of, is he communicating with certain people that we don’t know about yet? Or is he silenced for now?

I absolutely agree. Although I've only had the one opportunity to hear her voice, Lily didn't sound aggressive or hostile in any way. If anything, she sounded exhausted, but confident; desperate, but hopeful- if that makes any sense. Her energy was calm and not threatening. She didn't give off "bleed you for fun" energy, rather "I will defend myself and my family" energy.

There once was a family that lived in the woods.

Plotting and scheming and up to no good.

If you see them, it's better you run.

They'll murder and maim you, and bleed you for fun.

So is the introduction video to the 2024 haunt telling a lie or the truth?

“Propaganda is the dissemination of information—facts, arguments, rumours, half-truths, or lies—to influence public opinion. Deliberateness and a relatively heavy emphasis on manipulation distinguish propaganda from casual conversation or the free and easy exchange of ideas.”
